Our Story
Leonard Waguespack founded both Vacherie Fuel Corporation and Oil Company in Vacherie, La during the early 1930’s when propane was the primary fuel source for heating and cooking at homes and businesses.
As decades passed from the initial days of Vacherie Fuel Corporation, popularity and demand increased for natural gas and conventional fuels while propane took a steep decline. For many years the Waguespack family debated on keeping Vacherie Fuel.
Fast forward to 2014 and propane resurfaced as a clean energy source with technology creating entirely new market potential.
Realizing the potential Albert Waguespack III “Allie” left his 9 year career working as a mechanical engineer of rotating equipment with the goal of invigorating the once thriving family business. His focus was to modernize the company, and to become one of Louisiana’s only local bottle exchange suppliers.
Jackie Waguespack (widow of Albert Waguespack Sr.) always said that “Papa wanted to see Vacherie Fuel last 100 years.”
In March 2016 Sina Zarei joined Allie to build the business as they once did together as engineering colleagues. Together they have invested in automating their refurbishment processes and growing the business into southern Louisiana’s independently owned grocery, convenience, and hardware stores.
Today the company remains one of the only independent- Louisiana based bulk and propane exchange vendors now operating out of Thibodaux, and Vacherie, LA. The Vacherie Fuel team is striving to keep “Papas” dream on track.
